The wood for these bowls come from teak roots which have been left in the ground from when the trees were felled. These tree roots have often been underground for many years which has helped the wood “mature” into a sustainable raw material perfect for rustic one of a kind wooden items. Reclaiming this teak root serves as an environmental and an economic service to local communities, creating an income while clearing previously root riddled land for the cultivation for new plantations. All these rustic bowls are completely unique, making each truly individual with natural features that add to the character. Caring for your new teak item – teak is hardy but does need a little TLC to retain its beautiful appearance. Do not wash in the dishwasher. Hand wash with mild soap and water and dry immediately with a soft cloth. Never soak nor leave airdry; and do not put into the refrigerator or near a radiator as extreme temperatures can cause the wood to crack. Occasionally, rub with a little food safe mineral oil to bring out the grain and maintain the finish. One supplied Yours will be slightly different from one shown. Please ask for photos. Thanks
